Tropical Dreams
Come and discover the rich history of 10,000 years of South Florida with your students as you are guided through the museum’s permanent exhibition, Tropical Dreams: A People’s History of South Florida. 

Students will:

Seminole/Miccosukee Discovery*
Experience the fascinating world of the Seminole and Miccosukee Indians. Students will discover the lifestyles, customs and beliefs of South Florida’s Native Americans.

Students will:

• dress up in traditional costumes
  
• look at artifacts and recreate a Green Corn Dance
  
• reenact a traditional cooking fire

World Map*
Embark on a journey to other lands as your group travels the globe on a room-sized map and creates a three-dimensional world with the use of artifacts and props.

Students will:

• learn about the wildlife, environment, music and culture of different countries and regions
• explore basic geography, while examining the diverse environments and cultures found all over the globe

Explorer Map*
Follow the wake of great explorers. Students will cross the world’s oceans on a giant floor map and retrace the routes followed by early European traders, Spanish conquistadors and others.

Students will:

• identify changes in navigational tools and techniques over time 
• explore the relationship between science and history
• learn about European exploration of the “New World” while gaining geographic understanding
