Tropical Dreams
Come and discover the rich history of 10,000 years of South Florida with your students as you are guided through the museum’s permanent exhibition, Tropical Dreams: A People’s History of South Florida.
We Built This City
Students will explore the museum galleries and then hit the streets of Downtown Miami as they learn about elements and styles of architecture in Miami along with the people who built and continue to build this city.
Miami Expressions
The arts are alive in Miami! Come discover how different forms of art have been practiced in Miami for thousands of years, and make some art of your own along the way.
Making Miami Home
We all came from somewhere! Miami has always been a destination for people, and has made the city what it is today. American Pioneers, American Indians, Europeans and others all set their sights on South Florida. Explore 12,000 years of History and find out why, when and how people have settled in Miami and made it their homes.
Conservation Miami
Learn about the beautiful natural environments of our area, how various people from Paleo-Indians, farmers and developers have used them over time, and what we are doing now to help save these areas for future generations. The group will participate in a lively debate activity pertaining to land use and conservation in southern Florida.
History Mysteries (targeting grade 4)
History Mysteries addresses the social studies curriculum objectives through four different programs that examine important themes in Florida history. Students will engage in role-playing and hands-on experiences with artifacts. In addition to incorporating standards that address the content strands tested on the FCAT, History Mysteries also serves Florida Statue 233.061, which mandates a Florida history experience for Grade 4 students.

Explore the ways various groups have earned a living in South Florida: Seminoles in the Everglades, Key West settlers and Miami homesteaders.
- Florida Lifestyle
Examine the lifestyles of prehistoric Miamians, Seminole Indians and South Florida homesteaders.
- Florida Under Five Flags
Learn about the various nations that have controlled the state throughout its history and the reasons different groups had for migrating to Florida.
- Transportation in Florida
Investigate the impact of transportation on South Florida history and Miami’s position as a “gateway” city.

Sunshine State Map*
Come and explore the great state of Florida through our interactive floor map and gallery tour. Learn about the different environmental, historical and cultural differences of Florida, and how important and unique our state is!
World Map*
Our World Map gives students and teachers a hands-on historical and cultural experience. Be a part of the early trade routes, cross the oceans with the European explores and learn about the great cultures of the past and present. Learn how all people are similar while celebrating out differences!
Saludos Amigos! Map*
Explore the rich cultural heritage of the Americas on a giant floor map, amazing artifacts and by touring our exciting Museum galleries! Participants will understand how Miami and South Florida have seen the development of its famously rich cultural diversity and its deep connection to its international neighbors.
